Molly Springfield

Molly Spring­field has been a TSV con­trib­u­tor since the spring of 2010 and also serves as a Copy Edi­tor. She con­tin­ues to pur­sue ambi­tious projects in her own work as an artist and we are excited to fea­ture her and her accomplishments.

Molly is included in It Is Almost That: A Col­lec­tion of Image + Text, a new anthol­ogy of text-​​based art and writ­ing by women artists edited by Lisa Pear­son of Siglio Press. The book includes projects by Eleanor Antin, Louise Bour­geois, Ann Hamil­ton, Susan Hiller, Adrian Piper, and Sue Williams, among oth­ers. Molly also con­tributed to the accom­pa­ny­ing lim­ited edi­tion, It Is Almost That (Box).

Cur­rently on view, Molly is included in  Art=Text=Art: Works by Con­tem­po­rary Artists, an exhi­bi­tion of selec­tions from the Sally & Wynn Kra­marsky Col­lec­tion at the Uni­ver­sity of Rich­mond Muse­ums in Rich­mond, Vir­ginia through Octo­ber 16, 2011. Among the more than 40 artists included in the exhi­bi­tion are Alice Aycock, Trisha Brown, Dan Flavin, Jane Ham­mond, Jasper Johns, Sol LeWitt, Ed Ruscha, Karen Schiff, Cy Twombly, John Waters, and Lawrence Weiner.
The exhi­bi­tion is curated by N. Eliz­a­beth Schlat­ter, Deputy Direc­tor of the Muse­ums, with Rachel Nack­man, Reg­is­trar of the Kra­marsky Col­lec­tion. The exhi­bi­tion of 70 works on paper from the Kra­marsky Col­lec­tion, many of which have never before been shown, rep­re­sent 43 dif­fer­ent artists and exam­ine the incor­po­ra­tion of text and other ele­ments of lan­guage, the com­mu­ni­ca­tion of infor­ma­tion, and the for­mal struc­ture of nar­ra­tive in draw­ings, print series, and artists’ books.

Lastly, Molly is the recip­i­ent of a 2011 Artist Fel­low­ship from the D.C. Com­mis­sion on the Arts & Human­i­ties and will have her tenth solo show in 2012 at Thomas Robertello Gallery in Chicago.
